Can I be honest with you for a second?
For a long time, I thought having strong faith meant having it all figured out. Knowing the right scriptures. Having the most aesthetic quiet-time setup. Never doubting. Never struggling.
Spoiler: that version of faith burned me out by sophomore year.
What I Actually Learned
Faith isn't a highlight reel. It's not your perfectly journaled prayer, your church attendance streak, or the Bible verse you post on your story. Faith is the moment you're sitting in your car after a hard day and you whisper "God, I don't know what I'm doing" — and you mean it.
That's real. That counts.
The Ordinary is Sacred
There's this idea that sacred moments have to be big — the conference, the worship set that wrecked you, the sermon that changed everything. And those moments are real and good. But they're not the only place God shows up.
God is in:
- The 6am when you're barely awake and the coffee hasn't hit yet
- The group chat that's actually keeping you together this semester
- The homework you hate but are doing anyway
- The friendship that feels like coming home
The ordinary is the sacred. That's what I keep coming back to.
A Challenge for You
This week, pick one "ordinary" moment per day and just notice it. Notice what you're feeling. Notice if there's anything worth saying a quiet thank-you for. You don't have to journal it (though you can). You don't have to post about it.
Just notice.
